I’m talking about those times when your thoughts won’t sit still. It’s not necessarily a crisis, just relentless static you can’t turn down. What do you do? What works for you best?
It doesn’t have to be traditional meditation, prayer, or anything with a name. It could be something that is exclusively yours, something that has worked for you for years.

beta, or theta binaural beats, or Zingaia's... Shapeshifter, or just instrumental music, go out into nature or nature sounds from youtube.
Thanks for sharing. I can definitely relate to getting out into nature. That has always helped me too.
I will also say this. Advice given is advice appreciated in kind if it's genuinely taken not to heart, or mind. But to focus.
I try to take care of my most immediate needs first. I call this process habit management. It involves running through my own inner mental checklist. And it includes items that aren't limited to the basics.
Am I hungry, or thirsty? Horny, or tired? Need to relieve myself? Have I journaled or checked in on family or friends? Have I looked into a big project that overwhelms me much lately? Mind you that last one is for the opposite effect, where I experience nothing but silence when I should be experiencing anything but burnout or imagination thought blocks.
Once I have my list item from these, I act on it. In cases where I don't, I know it's eneergetic because the basics are cared for.
I combine these experiences together, to see where I stand on the spectrum. A lot of times, I will in this situation, let my energy body or etheric (out of body travelling self) heal more if it needs to, by recharging as I focus on more physical tasks, before encouraging another adventure to begin again.
As a soul, I find that helps me out a lot. As a human being, well, same idea really.
When I'm interacting with other beings or people around me, if they drain or excite my energy too much, their presence or absence becomes apart of my check list out of habit to center, or ground myself into exactly the kind of self I need to be to match the moment I'm in as best as I can.
If all else fails, I just accept that I'm lazy today and there's really nothing my body or mind can do to fix it. If you don't experience laziness accept an overactive sense of boredom, then simply replace that emotional state of experience with your own, once you know what's pinging you in that way.
It will become clearer as you check items off that list. If multiple items on it don't appear, it could even be something medical. but you can at least explain this to your doctor as a daily habit, to rule out sanity checks.
In the worst case scenario, it could mean anything from possession to clouded lucidity. this is where prayer has literally saved my life in more ways than one, including active self meditation. Along with divine intervention in other cases.
I've gone through a lot of times where I had to distract myself to rebalance which ever excites me to an overactive mental or underactive metaphysical state of presence. this has helped me in almost every case accept when I needed someone else to literally help scan me to see if they could see or sense something I couldn't as a spirit body. Such as when I needed to leave that toxic coven.
